![]() The Yamaha PSR-SX 900/700 and Korg PA 1000/700 are well regarded but only available as 61 key models. Roland does have some arranger keyboards, but not an extensive a model range as in previous years. I am not as familiar with Casio, but they have some models also. The brand new Yamaha PSR-EW425 is a very inexpensive 76 key model. Korg also has a couple of relatively inexpensive 88 key arranger keyboards. If you are looking for an inexpensive 88-key weighted arranger keyboard I would recommend the Yamaha DGX-670. The 73/76 models are all semi-weighted actions as far as I am aware, and most 88 key models are designed to mimic a piano action to some degree, so are weighted. Most arranger keyboards are 5-octaves (61 keys), but there are a variety of models which are 73/76 or 88 keys. If you want a top of the line 88 key weighted piano-type action then the Yamaha CVP 809 is also good, but extremely expensive. They are both top of the line arranger keyboards with great features but have very different user interfaces. Its main competitor is the Korg PA-4X (76 key version). The Genos is excellent, but extravagantly priced. The Yamaha Genos has a 76 key semi-weighted action, which is in between the two. If you aren't looking for every function under the sun, the better Yamaha PSR models might be worth considering.Īre you wanting a weighted (Piano) or non-weighted (synth/organ) key action? The Casio models are great value for money, and well worth considering if you're on a limited budget. None are cheap although, used prices help remove the massive depreciation. These are the top arranger models among the best instruments available. Really at the top end, there are a couple of big players:ġ) Yamaha Tyros (models 1 to 5) in which 4 was the first that came with impressive epianos and organsĢ) Yamaha Genos (successor to the Tyros 5) Are there any others to recommend to me?Īlso, does anyone know of a music center/store in the Albany, NY general area that would have good variety of arranger keyboards to demo on site? (Yamaha's "dealer locator" function on their website doesn't seem to be working.) I've started doing a little research on the Yamaha Genos which looks quite nice. (Don't worry - I know that they can be quite pricey.) Features I'm looking for are 76 keys (no lower than 73), lots of styles (of course), excellent sound (of course) and ease-of-use (which I realize is a relative thing in the eye of the beholder). ![]() For purposes of this discussion, let's put that one aside for now, since I don't have a firm limit in mind at the moment. I know that the first question will be "What's my budget?". I'm considering purchasing an arranger keyboard and am seeking advice, since I'm not up-to-date on the latest and greatest.
